David Pinkerton Obituary

David Pinkerton

June 4, 1968 - November 1, 2025

David Francis Pinkerton, was born in Beatrice, Nebraska, on June 4, 1968, and spent the entirety of his life in the town he loved. He passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025. David was a humble man with a heart full of compassion. He was an inspiring figure to all who knew him, generously lending his time and effort to help others. He was a loving husband to his wife Rhonda, whom he married on February 7, 1998, and a devoted father to his children Robin (Eddie) Leaders, Danielle Crow, Jacob (fiance' Jayli Sexton) Pinkerton, and Sean (special friend Isabella Veffredo) Pinkerton. David was also a proud grandfather to Bryce and Camden Leaders. He was a loyal brother to George (Linda), Jim (Judith Collins), Tom (Jennie), Dan (Peggy), Kathy Pinkerton, Beth (Terry) Schuster, and Rob (Lenece); and sister-in-law Pam Pinkerton Gerdes. He was a cherished nephew to Cecelia Linscott, and lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and nieces, and cousins. David was preceded in death by his parents George and Garoldine "Gari" Pinkerton, his brother Michael, his nephew Kevin, his uncle and aunts Dean and Betty Gormley, Dr. Ken and Ardie Pinkerton and Dr. Dean Linscott, great-niece Ellie Lutjemeier, and his father and mother-in-law Kenneth and Joeleen Snyder.

David graduated from Beatrice High School in 1986. He went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned his bachelor's degree in agriculture. David was a proud member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Besides working with his brothers on the family farm, he became a dedicated Transportation Specialist. From hauling cattle for Schuster Transfer to owning Bills Creek Express, Dave loved being in a semi and being on the road. When Midwest Livestock Systems hired him, he was so excited to drive their new semi throughout the Midwest. Dave was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Dave was passionate about the game of pool. He was known for his black cowboy hat and his mustache. His competitive nature and love of the game made for some interesting matches and stories. He loved coaching Jacob and Sean in baseball and wrestling. Also being able to coach Bryce and Camden in wrestling made him happy. Dave attacked his battle with cancer with quiet resolve to beat it but had faith in God's will. Dave touched so many lives in his brief 57 years. His legacy of friendship and love for family will live on in all of us.

Public visitation for David will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 10 to 6 p.m., at Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel, located at 708 North 6th Street, Beatrice, Nebraska 68310, with the family will greeting friends later that day from 5 to 6 p.m. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 612 High Street, Beatrice, Nebraska 68310.
