Duane Siems

Duane Siems, 79 years of age passed away at Bryan Hospital on March 31, 2024. He was born on April 29, 1944 in Beatrice, NE to Lorenz and Bertha (Baehr) Siems. Duane attended Prairie Star country school and graduated from DeWitt High School in 1962. Duane served his country in the United States Marines from November of 1962 until March of 1963 and then served several years in the reserves. He was united in marriage to Leona Lenners on August 13, 1967. To this union three sons; Jeffrey, Jeremy and Jason were born. They lived near DeWitt where Duane was a lifelong farmer and raised cattle and hogs.
Duane was a member of St. Paul Lutheran (Soap Creek) Church and had served on the church council and was currently serving on the St. Paul Cemetery board. He also served on the Pickrell Elevator board and Cattle Feeders Association board.
Duane enjoyed farming, raising cattle and hogs, attending his bible study sessions, and visiting with his coffee groups. Duane most especially enjoyed going to his children's and grandchildren's activities and special events.
He is survived by his wife Leona; sons Jeffrey (Special Friend Deseri Dillow) of Beatrice, Jeremy (Jamie) Siems and Jason (Retha) Siems of DeWitt; grandchildren Cole, Carter, Aubrey, Drew, Dawson and Kyler Siems; sister Arla Jean (Tom) Mayhew; nephews Mark and Scott Mayhew; niece Beth Smith; and several other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Lorenz and Bertha (Baehr) Siems; and parents in law Renken and Elizabeth (Meints) Lenners.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, April 5, 2024 at the St. Paul Lutheran (Soap Creek) Church near DeWitt. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided be the United States Marines. The body will lie in state on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, and at the church one hour before the service on Friday. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM Friday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice for future designation with Ken Holsing and Marvin Kelle in charge.
