Elizabeth Lemkau
Elizabeth Lemkau, 87, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and formerly of Beatice, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 at the Bickford Cottages in Fort Dodge. Services for Elizabeth will be held at a later date in Sutton, Neb. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of local arrangements.
Elizabeth Esther Griess, the daughter of Hugo and Erna Griess, was born on July 29, 1930 in Sutton, Neb. and graduated from Sutton High School. On Nov. 23, 1950, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Robert Lemkau. After their marriage, the couple made their first home in Sutton before moving to Hebron, Neb. in 1951. Elizabeth worked for the city of Beatrice for 20 years. In 1959, the family moved to Beatrice. Elizabeth and Bob later moved to Fort Dodge so they could be closer to family.
Elizabeth was a past member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice.
She is survived by her two children, Patty (LeRoy) Dies of Castle Rock, Colo. and Tim Lemkau of Fort Dodge; her three grandchildren, AJ Dies, Amber (Ryne) Young and Kurt (Val) Lemkau; and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Sharon; a son-in-law, LeRoy; and her brothers and sisters, Johanna, Elizabeth, Lorence (Smoky), Jonathan, Edgar, Victor and Bertha.
