Herman J. "Slim" Riepenkroger, 74, of Beatrice passed away unexpectedly at his home early Saturday morning, Dec. 31, 2011. He was born on Nov. 10, 1937, at Leavenworth, Kan., to Herman S. and Winifred (Rhoades) Riepenkroger. He served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1958. Herman had lived in the Plymouth and Beatrice area since 1976. He had been a partner at Plymouth Manufacturing in Plymouth, Neb. and had worked at American Tool in DeWitt from 1995 until he retired in 2000. Herman and Doris (Christ) Teet were married on July 1, 1995, in Beatrice. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening.
Survivors include his wife Doris; daughter Corrina Williams and husband Tom of Beatrice; son Joe Riepenkroger of Beatrice; four step-children Chris Teet of Fairbury, Daniel Teet and wife Eleshia of Omaha, Robert Teet and wife Becky of Beatrice, and Gerry Teet of Salina, Kan.; grandchildren Chris Riepenkroger and wife Josie, Isaac Neher, Gabriel Neher, Katie Teet, Makayla Williams, Rebecca Tiemann, Garrett (Teet) Stedman, Christian Teet, Katelin Teet, Blake, Cole, and Wade; great-granddaughters Lacie and Chevy Riepenkroger; brothers Jerry Riepenkroger and wife Mary, and Butch Riepenkroger, all of Marysville, Kan.; sisters Winifred Johnson and husband Jim of Marysville, Patricia Craig of Pueblo, Colo., and Karen Hulls and husband Jake of Wenatchee, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herman S. and Winifred (Rhoades) Riepenkroger, Joan Riepenkroger, and brother Melvin Riepenkroger.
Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Doyle Karst officiating. There will be no viewing, but a register book will be available for signatures Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice.
