Janice Schell
June 3, 1946 - September 22, 2025
Janice Janine "Jan" Schell entered into eternal peace on September 22, 2025. She was born on June 3, 1946, in Campbell, Nebraska, and graduated from Campbell High School. She was a loyal and steadfast participant in the Willing Helpers Group at the Blue Springs Methodist Church, and her thoughtful nature shone brightly through her work as a paraeducator and bus driver. Jan had a zest for life that was evident in her many hobbies which included sewing, crocheting, painting, ceramics, riding horses, flower gardening, canning, and mowing. She was also an active member of the Nebraska Endurance Competitive Trail Ride Association (NECTRA), and the Blue River 4-H Club. Above all, Janice was extremely proud of her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
Janice was a devoted wife to her husband, John Schell, whom she married on November 6, 1966, and together they enjoyed a life filled with love and laughter. She is also survived by her children Jon Eric Schell of Wymore, Jodi (Lute) Brees of Seward, and Jolene (Richard) Sitorius of Brady, Neb.; grandchildren, JW Schell, Jentry Schell (Nate Boyd), Jazlyn Schell, Quade Brees, Mika (Josh) Taylor, Davon (Jordyn) Brees, Grace Brees, Kaylee (Ryan) McConnell, Dalton Sitorius, and Stefanie Sitorius; great-grandchildren, Paidyn Taylor, Maddyn Brees, Presley Taylor, and baby boy McConnell on the way; siblings, Dale (Ardyce) Johnson, Audrey (Robert) Christensen; sisters-in-law, Lyra Johnson, Sandra Johnson, and Bonnie Griffith; several nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Oveline (Roy) Johnson; parents-in-law, Everett "Bud" and Phyllis Schell; siblings, Haldine Johnson, Don Johnson, and Marjorie Johnson; sister-in-law, Rosalie (Dick) Tegtmeier; brother-in-law, Verne Rogge and nephew, Jerry Osler.
Public visitation for Janice will be held on Sunday, September 28th from 2 pm to 8 pm at Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. A family prayer service will be held on Monday, Septemeber 29, 2025 at 10:15 am at the Blue Springs Methodist Church. Janice's life will be celebrated during a funeral service following the prayer service at 10:30 am. www.ghchapel.com. A graveside service will take place at 2 pm at the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital in Omaha for Cancer treatment and research and the Blue Springs Methodist Church with the funeral home in charge.
