John Lienemann Obituary

Death

John W.F. Lienemann, 93, Edina, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002. He was born Jan. 12, 1909, at Adams, Neb., and had been involved in insurance sales for 50 years. He started his career with Lutheran Brotherhood, where he was general agent in Beatrice, Neb., for 12 years and vice president of Sales and Marketing for five years. He was founder and president of Minnesota National Life Insurance and former board member of both Lutheran Brotherhood and Augsberg College; former member of Interlachen Country Club and the Minneapolis Athletic Club. He loved his God, life and his family.

Survivors: wife, Emma; son, Willard Lienemann and wife Joyce of Eden Prairie, Minn.; daughters, Willa Jean Portman and husband Tom, and Jane Lienemann; grandchildren, Lori Lienemann-Hartkopf, Mark Lienemann and wife Anne, Todd Lienemann and wife Stephanie, Cindy Poppitz and husband Chad, Betsy Portman, Julie Dodd and husband Tony, Tim Portman and wife Tara; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Lienemann of Beatrice; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by grandson Kurt John Lienemann.

Funeral services held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Crossview Lutheran Church in Edina, Minn. Private burial at Maple Knoll Cemetery, in Maple Grove, Minn. Memorials preferred to the favorite charity of the donor's choice. Werness Brothers, 3500 W. 50th St., Edina, Minn.
