Larry L. Shaw
August 21, 1941 - December 11, 2025
Larry L. Shaw, 84, of Pickrell, died Thursday night, December 11, 2025, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born on August 21, 1941, in Pawnee City and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1959. He served with the U.S. Marines from 1960 until 1964. On November 26, 1965, he married Marian Waltke at the United Methodist Church in Pickrell. Larry worked in the maintenance department for Cominco, later Agrium, of Beatrice for many years. He was a member of the Pickrell United Methodist Church, Sesostris Shrine, Cruisin' Classics of Lincoln, Blue Valley Shrine Club of Beatrice, Marine Corp League, American Legion, and the Eagles Club. He participated in many parades with the Shriners, encouraged his children with their go-cart racing, and really liked anything with wheels and watching Gunsmoke!
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marian Shaw; son, Larry (Margo) Shaw; daughter, Nicole Weishahn and significant other, Todd VanLaningham; seven grandchildren, Spencer (Kelsey) Weishahn, Kamree (Eli Pelc) Weishahn, Tiffanie (Jesse) McCall, Stephanie (Michael Nickel) Shaw, Austin (Kodie) Shaw, Robert (Brook) Taylor, and Randy Taylor; ten great-grandchildren, Landon, Huxley, Riley, Madyson, Cayden, Alayna, Graysen, Easton, Wyatt, and Freya, with two more due in 2026; several nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Evelyn and John Knight, sister, Nellie (Wesley) Hunnicutt; parents-in-law, William Waltke and Jennie and Edwin Nelson.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Pickrell United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph Rafique officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Tuesday in the church basement. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment of the cremains will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell with military rites provided by the U.S. Marines and Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the Beatrice American Legion. A book for signatures will be available on Monday, December 15, 2025, from noon until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the family greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family for future designation.
