Melinda G. Parde

Melinda G. Parde, 87, of Adams, passed away on Friday morning, October 31, 2025, at Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. She was born on October 30, 1938, to Ollie and Teda (Busboom) Harms. Melinda was baptized on November 11, 1938, and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She graduated from Adams High School in 1956. On June 8, 1958, she married Donald Parde at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. Don and Melinda farmed for 45 years south of Adams. Melinda also worked for many years as the dietary director at Gold Crest in Adams and then at Beatrice Manor. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church of Adams, where she served on the Altar Guild, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a member of WELCA. She enjoyed traveling and attending her grandchildren's activities.
Survivors include her sons, Kevin (LaVon) Parde of Geneva, Neb., and Curt (Kaylynn) Parde of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Sherri (Erich) Sawyer of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Luke (Linnea) Parde, Nate (Kaydra) Parde, Abbie Parde, Natalie Parde, Connor (Gerie Jekeln) Parde, Madeline (Sam) McClernon, and Claire Parde; three great-grandchildren, Emilene and Miles McClernon, and Leo Parde; sisters, Lavon (Max) Gramann, and Veloura (Don) Kaufman; brother Norbert (Dawn Hill) Harms; sister-in-law, Esther Oosting; nephew, Kenny (Susan) Newman; several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Parde, who died on September 1, 2025; parents, Ollie and Teda Harms; parents-in-law, Heye and Lena Parde; sister-in-law, Jean Baehr; brother-in-law, Lorin Oosting.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the American Lutheran Church of Adams with Pastor Nathan Metzger officiating. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery of Adams. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 a.m., on Wednesday at the church. The body will lie in state on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Fox Funeral Home of Adams with family greeting friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the American Lutheran Church of Adams and Cottonwood Hospice of Beatrice.
