NORFOLK – Private Family Services for Orville E. Eden, 99, of Norfolk will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 2025 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Private family burial will be held at a later date at Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Reverend Terry Buol will be officiating the services. Public visitation will be held on Friday, November 7th, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, and the United States Navy Honor Guard. Orville passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the family for later designation. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Orville was born April 7, 1926 in Beatrice, Nebraska and lived there until May 2000 when he and his wife, Reberta, moved to Norfolk, NE to live with their daughter Deanna. He graduated from Beatrice High School in May 1944. Upon graduation he served in the United States Navy (WWII) in the Asiatic Pacific theatre on several landing ships and was involved in the invasion of Okinawa.

After returning home from the service, he married Reberta Hermsmeier at Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice on December 14, 1946. To this marriage, three children were born. He and Reberta enjoyed 63 years together.

He worked at StoreKraft Mfg. Company in Beatrice for over 41 years and retired in April 1988.

He had been a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and also enjoyed golfing, softball, baseball, fishing, hunting, traveling, gardening, and following his children in their sports endeavors. After the death of his wife, he spent many days a week at the Senior Center where he played bingo and cribbage and sometimes pool with his friends. He loved doing word searches, dominoes, and listening to music. Some of his most happy times were when he was working out two or three times a week at Cardiac Rehab. He loved to listen to or watch the Royals, Chiefs and the Huskers.

He was a kind, thoughtful, generous man who loved to tell stories and make people laugh. He was proud to have served his country during WWII. He made friends easily and was always willing to help when someone needed something done.

He is survived by his daughter, Deanna (Dee) Eden of Norfolk, NE; his son, Dean (Teresa) Eden of Milford, NE; and three grandchildren, Zachary Eden of Lincoln, NE, Erika Eden (Brian Diltz) of Overland Park, KS and David Renz of St. Petersburg, FL; two great-grandchildren, Henry Diltz and Cora Diltz of Overland Park, KS; and son-in-law, Michael Renz of Lanham, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl E. (Jack) and Mona Eden; wife Reberta; daughter, Donna Renz; and brother, Gerald Eden.

Condolences may be expressed to the family on-line at www.stonacekfuneralchapel.com.
