William Scheele Obituary

William "Bill" Scheele

April 7, 1945 - December 17, 2025

William "Bill" Kenneth Scheele was born on April 7, 1945, at Odell General Hospital to William F. Scheele and Agnes Louise Cordsen. He passed away peacefully at home December 17, 2025. He lived a life centered on family, hard work, and helping others.

Bill was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Odell. On September 8, 1966, William married Linda Winkle. Together they shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and memories, raising their family and building a life they were proud of.

William worked for 32 years at Lincoln Telephone Company until his retirement in 1997.

While living in Odell, he also served his community as a dedicated member of the Odell Fire Department.

William loved the outdoors, especially hunting, and enjoyed sharing his passion for archery with his children and grandchildren. He was most at home in his shop, working with his hands. Whether fixing a car, building something new, or creating metal projects, he had a gift for making things better and bringing them back to life. He also raised longhorn cattle on the farm on Hwy 8.

William is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his children Bill (Joy) Scheele, Tim (Jill) Scheele, and Mary Jo (Doug) Bures all of Odell; grandchildren Michael (Madison) Steelman, William Scheele, Wyatt (Pyper) Scheele, Cody Scheele, Jesse (Katlyn) Scheele, Kirsten (Evan) Larson, and Dalton Bures; great-grandchildren Bryson, Scarlett and Colt Steelman, Jameson Scheele; sisters Dorothy Scheele and Diane Waltke of Lincoln; brothers Merlin Scheele and Ed (Carol) Scheele of Odell. He was preceded in death by his parents William F. and Agnes (Cordsen); brother Clarence Scheele, and sisters LaVerne Meyer, Norma VanLaningham, and Evelyn Gunther.

He will be remembered for his skills, his witty comebacks, and the quiet love he showed his family every day. William will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Public visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 1 to 8 p.m. at Griffiths - Hovendick Chapel, 708 North 6th Street, Beatrice, NE 68310, with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 3 p.m., at Our Savior Lutheran, Odell. Interment will be at the Odell Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
