Alice Leona Fillingim Ray

Alice Leona Fillingim Ray 75, of Batson died Tuesday November 13,2007 at her residence. Born to Archie Randolph Fillingim and Leo McCloud Davis Fillingim in Sour, Lake TX she had lived in Batson many years. After graduating from Batson High School in 1950 she earned her Bachelors of Science from Lamar State College of Technology of Beaumont in 1964, and began teaching, and later retired from West Hardin Independent School District. Alice attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church- Marysee where she was a life long and faithful member, and a loving mother, teacher, and Christian. She is preceded in death by her Sisters; Mary Lou Hutto and Lois Shorten, Brother; Donald Fillingim. Alice is survived by her husband whom she married in 1951 Claude W. Ray Jr of Batson, Sons; Jerry Ray and wife Barbara of Spring TX, Michael Ray and wife Susie of Clear Lake, Daughter; Cheryl Ray of Houston, Sisters; June Trahan and husband Herbert of Sour, Lake, Doris Snyder of Corpus Christi. Grandchildren are Emily Hardin, David, Rebecca, and Sarah Ray. A service of remembrance was held Saturday November 17,2007 at 1:30 P.M. At Mt. Calvary Baptist Church- Marysee of Moss Hill. Interment was at Guedry cemetery of Batson.
