Barbara Saunders Obituary

Barbara W. Saunders, 85, of Orange, passed away on September 30, 2022, in Port Arthur.

A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Officiating will be her grandson, Jonathan Saunders.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Texas City, Texas, on February 4, 1937, she was the daughter of Jairet Wilson and Verdie (Thompson) Wilson. Barbara enjoyed cooking up a meal for her family and also spending time outside gardening. She stood strong in her Christian faith. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dick Saunders; parents, Jairet and Verdie Thompson.

She is survived by her children, Stephen Saunders and wife Cindy of Austin and Kevin Saunders of Orange; grandchildren, Jonathan Saunders and wife Amber, of Austin, Leslie Miller and husband Wes of Spring, and Kristin Fitzsimmons and husband Warren of Orangefield; great grandchildren, Christian Saunders, Karly Saunders both of Austin, Charli Miller, Chloe Miller, both of Spring, and Kyndall Quigley of Orangefield; brother, Jerry Wilson and wife JoAnn of Lake Charles; and her beloved dog, Scottie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your charity of choice in Barbara's name.
