Carl Jones Obituary
Carl Mitchell Jones entered into eternal rest April 23, 2008 at Southland Nursing Home in Lufkin, TX. after a battle with cancer. Carl Jones was born September 19, 1928 to Robert and Laberta Jones in Woodville, TX. He retired 10 years ago. He had worked as a projectionist for the Wood Fain Movie Theater and the Drive-In Theater both in Woodville. He also worked for Wal-Mart for 7 years and Woodville Inn for 37 years. He met and married the love of his life Gloria Dean Rhone Jones on September 18, 1953. Carl was an active member of the Neighborhood Watch and the Long Range Committee with the Tyler County Extension Agency. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Woodville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Laberta Jones of Woodville and brothers, Roy & Booker Jones. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Dean Rhone Jones of Woodville; daughters, Paula Jones of Woodville and Jennifer Jones Porter & husband, Dale Porter of Bentonville, AR.; foster daughter, Bridgette Whitton of Houston; God daughter, Gloria McCartney of Woodville; God granddaughter, Blaire Winkle of College Station; sister, Hazel Jackson of Woodville, sister & brother-in-law, Mamie & Alfred Williams of Beaumont, sisters- in-law & brothers-in-law, Josephine Jones of Pleasanton, CA. and Naomi Marshall of Lufkin, Maxine & Vernon Thomas, Florine & Grady Thomas of Silsbee, Ratio & Brenda Rhone of Silsbee, Velma Rhone & Ellen Rhone both of Silsbee; special family friend, Sharon Jackson of Woodville; a host of nieces, nephews and other relative and friends. Special thanks to Dogwood Trails Nursing Home of Woodville and Southland Nursing Home of Lufkin. Carl will be great missed. Those wishing to pay condolences are welcome to come by the home.
