CLarence Lancon Obituary

Clarence A. Lancon, born on July 25, 1925, in Glencoe, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, in Groves, Texas. He lived a remarkable life, marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a commitment to his work.

Clarence began his journey of service at a young age when he enlisted in the Navy at just 17 years old. He served honorably during World War II on the USS Young, a Fletcher Class Destroyer, where he held the rank of Torpedoman's Mate Second Class. His military service ended in December 1945, a testament to his bravery and commitment to safeguarding freedom.

After returning from the war, Clarence dedicated 34 years of his professional life to the Gulf Oil Refinery, retiring as an Inspector in 1985. Throughout his career, he exemplified a strong work ethic and integrity, earning the respect of his colleagues and community.

Being a member if the Greatest Generation, he led a kind, simple, and spiritual life, which, by his daily example was passed down to his Baby Boomer children. He became the patriarch of his family as his siblings; Jules Lancon, Della Lancon Ardeneaux, Olive Lancon Randazzo, Ella Mae Lancon Leger, and Barbara Lancon Leone passed on. He leaves behind a legacy of love and admiration among his many nieces and nephews.

Clarence was married to Marjorie LeBlanc on October 15, 1948, and together they shared 57 years of cherished moments until her passing in 2005. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Dunn and her husband David of Port Neches, and Rebecca Fuselier of Nederland. Additionally, he will be lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren: Cheryl Vogel, Jeff Pate, Joshua Fuselier, and Aaron Fuselier, along with nine great-grandchildren who brought joy to his later years. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Lancon Tardo, and his brother, Lloyd Lancon and wife Phyllis.

A visitation will be held in honor of Clarence on June 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton - Thompson Funeral Directors located at 5200 W. Parkway, Groves, TX, with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:30 P.M.. The following day, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Immaculate Conception-St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, with burial services following at Memory Gardens in Nederland. The Celebrant will be Reverend Jim McClintock.

Clarence A. Lancon will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return. His life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and the strength of family.
