Donna Brown Obituary

Donna Jean Jeffcoat Brown passed from this life early Sunday morning, October 19 2025 in Silsbee, Texas. Donna was born in Conway, Arkansas on January 24, 1943 to Thomas Frank "Pete" Jeffcoat Sr. and Donnie Lois Joyner Jeffcoat. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Wayne Brown, her son George Gregory Brown, her brother Thomas Frank "Tommy" Jeffcoat, Jr., and her niece Megan Elizabeth Spears. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Jeffcoat Howe and her husband Richard G. Howe, her sister Sharon Jeffcoat Spears and her husband Clyde A. spears, and her sister-in-law Kathleen "Kay" Mitchell Jeffcoat. Donna is also survived by her nieces Belinda A. Jeffcoat, Tonya Wilkerson Shy, Deborah Christine "Christy" Wilkerson, Jennifer Jeffcoat Nixon, and Rachael Howe Abell along with her nephews Jon T. Jeffcoat, Micah A. Spears, and Geoffrey M. Howe. Finally, Donna is survived by a host of great nieces and great nephews.

Although born in Arkansas while her father served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Donna came to Beaumont, Texas with her parents and her brother Tommy after the War ended. After living in Beaumont for several years, her family moved to Lumberton, Texas (then known as Loeb, Texas) where she attended Loeb School through the eighth grade. Donna then went to Silsbee Junior High for the ninth grade and finished her public education at Silsbee High School where she was the Salutatorian of her class in 1961. She attended Lamar University and graduated from Durham Business School in Beaumont.

She married the love of her life George Brown in 1961 and was married to him for almost 58 years until his death in 2019. Donna and George began their married life in the Lumberton area and welcomed their only child Greg in 1965. The family later moved to Holiday Lakes, Texas. George and Donna had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned several businesses which included a water well drilling business, a telephone cable construction operation, an aerobic septic system installation service, and a long-time convenience store, The Trading Post, which Donna sold in 2020. In addition to managing her store, Donna worked as the secretary for the City of Holiday Lakes.

Donna showed her determination, stamina, and abiding love when her husband had a major stroke in 2001 and was largely incapacitated. She looked after him for almost 20 years while managing the store and working for Holiday Lakes. She had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and had been an organist and pianist in the church. Donna was an avid reader and a collector of figurines, and she loved to travel.

Donna's family would like to thank the staffs of Spanish Trail Assisted Living and Mill Creek Skilled Nursing Facility, both in Silsbee, Texas, for their compassionate care for Donna. We would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice and in particular her hospice nurse, Tiffany Dill.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from Noon to 1:00 pm at Lumberton Family Funeral Home located at 766 South Main Street in Lumberton, Texas.
