Frances Melanie Smith

Melanie Smith, 58, of Beaumont, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 31, 1949 in Wake Forest, North Carolina to Otha Mayard and Elizabeth Smith, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband, Ed Smith; aunts and cousins in North Carolina; and many friends and neighbors that considered her family. Special thanks to the staff of M D Anderson Cancer Center and Odyssey Healthcare for the special treatment and care during her illness. A Time of Remembrance will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont followed by a Time of Celebration from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Hog Wild on Crockett Street. Cremation arrangements were handled by Broussard's.
