Kenneth Nichols Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth Barton Nichols announces his death on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Ken was born on May 4th, 1948, in Beaumont, Texas to Ellen Barton and Howard Grant Nichols.

Ken was a 1966 Graduate of Beaumont High School and was a valued player on the baseball and football teams. He attended Baylor University from 1966-1970, where he met the love of his life, Paula Faye Allison. Ken graduated with a BBA in Finance.

After graduation, Ken and Paula were married in Woodville, TX and moved to Beaumont in 1974, where they happily raised their four boys. For over twenty-five years he owned and operated Gibson's Tru-Value with his brother, Allan, and was a staple in the community. In his free time, Ken loved coaching his son's baseball teams, attending Jimmy Buffett and Willie Nelson concerts and playing golf. One of his favorite pastimes was watching Baylor Football and he rarely missed a home game.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Paula A. Nichols; four sons, James Barton Nichols of Beaumont, Adam B. Nichols and wife Taylor of Corpus Christi, Neal B. Nichols and wife Shel of Houston, and Luke A. Nichols and wife Jennifer of Beaumont; two brothers, Howard Nichols Jr. and wife Sally of Beaumont, and Richard Allan Nichols of Beaumont; eleven grandchildren, Munro Nichols, Hudson Nichols, Hayes Nichols, Lilly Claire Nichols, Cameron Nichols, Nash Nichols, Dean Nichols, Russell Nichols, Isaac Nichols, James Nichols and Allison Nichols; and numerous extended family members and loving friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his Father Howard Grant Nichols, Mother Ellen Barton Nichols, and Brother Reed E. Nichols.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at 11:00am in the Sanctuary of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1350 N. 23rd St., Beaumont, TX 77706.

What a great guy! The Nichols family was a wonderful chapter in my life growing up in Beaumont . Ken was bigger than life and always fun to be around. I remember sandlot baseball and football games, basketball games in the church league, swimming in the pool, and countless games of risk . I won´t forget him.
