Lula Richard

Lula Richard, the Lord's good and faithful servant, died December 26, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Born Lula Landry on April 7, 1917 in Maurice, LA, she can best be remembered as a wonderful mother, loyal friend and the woman that fed hundreds of kids and many teachers at Travis Elementary School Cafeteria in Port Arthur, TX. from 1967 to 1989 when she retired at 72 years old. In 2002, she began volunteering with RSVP. She is survived by a sister, Velta Richard of Port Arthur, TX; a son, Ansel and Bonnie Richard of Arvada, CO.; a daughter, Sandra and Clark Collier of Beaumont, TX. There are four grandchildren, Michelle and Neil Mekelburg, Lanny and Amber Richard of Colorado; Hope and Mike Thomas of Tennessee and Amanda Collier of Beaumont, TX. She was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Theron and Gage Mekelburg of Colorado; Lane and Lauren Thomas of Tennessee; and a step great-grand child, Brandon Ghiasi of Colorado. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM with a Rosary at 4:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, TX. on Saturday, December 29th. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 30th at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
