Dr. Ataya was the best pediatrician, he took such good care of my kids and then grandkids. He will be missed by so many as he so caringly touched so many lives. Earth lost his presence but left many memories. Heaven has gained a loving, caring doctor.

Dr. Ataya was such a kind and compassionate man. He devoted his entire life to helping our families. Often times, he even opened his home on weekends to treat our children. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Ataya, Ramona, and the entire family. I will miss seeing his warm smile and being greeted with his familiar "Hey mama." Prayers for you all...

Hands down the BEST doctor anywhere. Our girls are 25 and 22, he delivered them and was their doctor. He was truly one of a kind. Not only was he a great physician but he also took the time to just talk to them about life, school and later work. Our youngest has asthma. Not only did he give us his home phone number, but one year when she had been sick right before Christmas he called our house on Christmas eve to check on her. Never met such a kind, caring, sweet doctor before or since. He always went above and beyond for his patients and their families. My husband and I would always talk about how we wished he had a family practice so that he could be our doctor as well. Prayers for his family. He will be forever loved and missed.

To Dr Ataya's Family,
I worked with Dr Ataya at the pediatric unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was an outstanding physician, who truly cared for his patients. A lot of his patients would hug him the minute he walked into their hospital room. His skill, knowledge, expertise and kindness will be missed in the pediatric field. I am so sorry for your family's great loss.

Many shared moments. Every week I walked to your office just down the road where you would help measure my INR, for I also had Atrial fib and was on coumadin. Many discussions over lunch at Baptist hospital, politics, the world, Canada and the Royal Canadian College of Medicine, our children etc. Your patients miss you Raja, I miss you. God bless you and your family. Thank you for the time I spent with you.

To Dr Ataya'a Family-I worked with Dr Ataya when he was the pediatrician who saw children & adolescents at MHMR-the old Daybreak unit back around 1987-89. He was so good with all those kids and his skill as a physician stood out to me so much that when I returned to Beaumont in 2006, he was who I recommended to anyone who needed a doctor that I considered to be the best pediatrician in Southeast Texas. He was highly skilled and a true gentleman to all whom worked with him in those days.
