Antanas Stancius Obituary
Antanas Stancius, 99, of Belleville, Ill., born Nov. 4, 1908, in Gudziunai, Lithuania, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Stancius was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in East St. Louis, Ill., and also a member of the American-Lithuanian Community. He worked as a laborer for Corno Feed Company in East St. Louis for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Aleksandras and Sofia, nee Siniskaite, Stancius; eight sisters and one brother.
Surviving are his wife, Elena, nee Kranauskas, Stancius; his children, Veronika Stancius of Belleville, Ill., Alfonsas (Dalia) Stancius of Vilnius, Lithuania, and Marija (Larry) Allen of Belleville, Ill.; his grandchildren, Ruta (Joachim) Peter of Berlin, Germany, Augustinas Stancius of Vilnius, Lithuania, Diana Stanciute of Vilnius, Lithuania, Sr. Joana Stanciute of Italy, Antanas Stancius of Vilnius, Lithuania, Regina (Robert) Coleman of Chesapeake, Va., Margarita (Tim) Roth of Springfield, Mo., and Deanna (Andrew) Kendrick of Bridgeton, Mo. He was a dear brother-in-law and uncle.
In lieu of flowers, masses may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.kasslyfuneral.com.
Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2008, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill. A Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral procession to leave at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, from Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill., for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Fr. Matthew Elie officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
