Anthony Cholet Obituary

Anthony Cholet

Anthony "Tony" T. Cholet, 60, of Fairmont City, Ill., born on November 29, 1956 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Tony was a 1974 graduate of Assumption High School in East St. Louis, Ill.

It was scary how close to perfect this man was that the world just lost. For a guy that knew everything, he could have given us a "heads up" about this. He will be remembered for his crude humor, his "I'm always right" stance on any matter and the love and compassion he had for his family. For a man who didn't have much, he was very giving. He would give you the "shirt off of his back", ever if it was 4 sizes too big. Tony would do anything in his power to help a loved one in need by being a shoulder to lean on, the voice to cheer you up, or reminding you of something 5 times every phone call. He will be greatly missed; Superman just lost his biggest competitor.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann C. Cholet, nee Watkins; his dad, August P. Cholet Jr.; his niece, Dianne Cholet; and his brother-in-law, Ron Ulery.

Tony is survived by brother, Doug Cholet; his sisters, Cathy (Joe) Rodriguez and Mary Ulery; his nieces and nephews, Jeff, Jennifer, and Bailey Cholet, Nikki Ulery, and Joseph and Anna Rodriguez; his great-nieces and great-nephews; very special cousins, Jeri Summers and Rick Flannery; and his uncle, Craig Cholet.

Tony lived next to us for nearly 30 years. He was a quiet man most of the time. We would always be sure everything was safe in our area as Tony watched all around our area of the neighborhood.

He maid wonderful meat balls for our family at Christmas. We provided for everything he needed and he would spend the day making a large batch for our children and grand children to consume. He did not care for his own meatballs but they were great and the grandkids still remember them. Unfortunately I believe he never wrote down what he used or directions for making them. He took that with him.

He will be missed by all that knew him.

Nothing but the best of memories about Tony. From playing hockey on the hard streets of Washington Park, to walking the hard aisles of our Fairmont Kroger Store. I was blessed to know him.
