Catherine M. Svezia, nee; Kromroy, 83, of Granite City, Ill., born on Nov. 23, 1925, in Marche, Ark., passed from this life on April 17, 2009, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Ill.
Catherine was currently a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City, Ill. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with and taking care of her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Jean, nee Svezia, (Todd) Chamblin of Granite City, Ill., and Linda, nee Svezia, (Phillip) Daniels of Edwardsville, Ill.; two sisters, Veronica Nizinski of Maryville, Ill., and Cecelia Kaleta of Granite City, Ill.; a brother, Matthew (Dorothy) Kromraj of Granite City, Ill.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Svezia, whom she married on Sept. 24, 1949, at the old St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madison, Ill., and who died on March 3, 2001; her parents, Thomas and Mary Ann, nee Zaweslak, Kromroy; a brother, Stanley; and a sister, Elizabeth.
Memorials are suggested to the Bells of St. Mark or in the form of Masses to the church.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City, Ill., with Fr. Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Ill.
