David Frerker

David "Poppo" Frerker, age 80 of Glen Carbon, IL, born November 28, 1936 in Germantown, IL, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his residence.

David was an Army Veteran, Scout Master, and retired from McDonnell Douglas. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon, IL, Helvetia Sharpshooters in Highland, IL, and the Carlyle Audubon Society. David enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, watching baseball, traveling, and took particular pride in watching and following his grandchildren in their athletic activities. David was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Veronica, nee Nordhaus, Frerker.

He is survived by his wife, Aurea, nee Heimann, Frerker, whom he married May 28, 1959; four sons, Dean (Michel) Frerker of Issaquah, WA, Duane (Erika) Frerker of Las Vegas, NV, Darryl (Carol) Frerker of Maryville, IL, and Andrew Frerker of Salt Lake City, UT; 10 grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, Mark, Elena, Keaton, Anna, Brandon, Andrea, Daylan, and Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Finneus; a brother, Donald (Cathy) Frerker of Bartelso, IL; a sister, Florence Fleshren of Shiloh, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to Willoughby Farm and JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), and will be received at the funeral home. Condolences barrywilsonfuneralhome.com

I've only known Dave and Aurea since 2011 when they settled in Glen Carbon, but have been blessed to know this family. Dave was a gentle soul that I hope we all meet again someday.

We always enjoyed seeing Dave and Aurea when they lived in Highland. Dave was in the St. Paul Choir when I was - always had a joke or a witty remark. Used to see them at various community activities.... Rest in peace, Dave...
