Smithton, Illinois - Dolores Marie Dill, nee Klemme, 94, of Smithton, IL, born July 4, 1930, in Mascoutah, IL, departed this life on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.

Dolores worked for many years at JCPenney in downtown Belleville. She later became a civil servant working at the St. Clair County Court House, the Internal Revenue Service in St. Louis, the United States Air Force, and the Defense Information Systems Agency at Scott AFB where she retired in 1990, as an Accounting Technician.

She was a member of St. John's UCC in Smithton where she was past president of the Christian Ed Board, Women's Fellowship and Young at Heart. She was a member of the Church Council and sang in the choir for many years. Dolores and her husband organized many tour bus trips for the church members and friends of the Smithton community.

Dolores loved to fish and hunt deer alongside her husband. She was very active in the Mississippi Valley Duck Hunters of Illinois, earning her the Sportsmanship Award in 1976. However, her greatest joy was raising St. Bernard puppies.

Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Walter "Whip" Oliver Dill, whom she married on April 15, 1950, and who died on August 28, 2013; her parents, Valentine and Catherine, nee Wallenfels, Klemme; her sister, Alvina (Alfred) Knecht; her brother, Roland (Bernice) Klemme; a sister-in-law, Rosemarie (John) Gambo; a brother-in-law, Raymond (Alice) Dill; a brother-in-law, Wayne Dill and sister-in-law, Judy Dill.

Surviving are her four daughters, Constance (Michael) Hill, Dr. Susan Dill, JoAnn Bertelsman, and Jane (Dean) Skaer; seven grandchildren, Dr. Carrie (Joseph) Villanueva, Angie Bertelsman, Benjamin "BJ" (Marcie) Bertelsman, Elizabeth (Travis) Shaw, John Skaer, Jennifer (Khan) Ravanh, and Sarah (Brian) Gebhardt; ten great-grandchildren, Joseph and Presley Villanueva, Cecelia and Benjamin Bertelsman, Dean and Margaret Shaw, Branson and Bo Ravanh, and Olivia and Lucas Gebhardt; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family gives a special thanks to Dolores' goddaughter, Julie Winn (Bonn) for her loving support.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Smithton, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at John's United Church of Christ, Smithton, IL, with Deacon Corby Valentine officiating.

Burial will be at Smithton City Cemetery, Smithton, IL.
