Donald Kaltmayer

Donald Herbert Kaltmayer, 72, of Granite City, Ill., born Jan. 13, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Ill.

Mr. Kaltmayer retired in 2001 from Universal Printing Company in St. Louis, Mo., after 42 years of dedicated service as a bookbinder. He loved his days of bowling and enjoyed watching sports with his family. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Bernice, nee Scott, Kaltmayer.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret H., nee Bischoff, Kaltmayer, whom he married on Aug. 29, 1964, in Granite City, Ill.; son, Don H. Katlmayer of Granite City, Ill.; daughter and son-in-law, Diane L. and Dan Boyd of Granite City, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law, David S. and Pam Kaltmayer of Edwardsville, Ill.; son, Daniel M. Kaltmayer of Granite City, Ill.; grandchildren, Danielle, Kayla, Kaytlin, Nicholas, Sara and Andrew Kaltmayer and Ashley Bast; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Pat Kaltmayer of St. Louis, Mo., and Tom and Stacy Kaltmayer of St. Louis, Mo.; other extended family and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: In celebration of his life, friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: Service will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Pate officiating.
