Donna Suess

Donna Lee Suess, 64, of Edwardsville, Ill., born Aug. 31, 1946, in Highland, Ill., died at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Suess was born and raised in Highland, graduating from Highland High School in 1964. She then went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Ill. She taught for 34 years at Alton High School in the business department before retiring in 2002. She then began working in the office of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Ill.. At age 18, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease; at age 40, breast cancer; at 55, open heart surgery with two valve replacements. Despite all of these, she survived the 46 years to be able to enjoy time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing golf and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred L. and Irene, nee Plocher, Siegrist; and a brother, Wayne Siegrist.

Surviving are her husband, the love of her life, Dan Suess, whom she married in 1969 after 9 years of dating; four children, Aaron (Danielle) Suess of Edwardsville, Ill., Ryan (Michelle) Suess of Chatham, Ill., Kelly Suess of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Stacy Suess of O'Fallon, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Kendyl and Mikaela Suess, and Abbey and Ty Suess.

Memorials may be given to the St. Boniface Angel Fund. Internet visitors may register online at www.kalmermemorialservices.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Ill., with the Rev. Jeff Goeckner, pastor, officiating. According to her wishes, her remains were cremated.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Donna was a great wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law and grandmother. Her memory will live on in her children and grandchildren.I will never forget her loving spirit and the short times I spent with her as a sister-in-law.
