Dorothy Hasenstab Obituary

Dorothy Hasenstab

March 8, 1931 - November 9, 2023

Belleville, Illinois - Dorothy E. Hasenstab, nee Huelsman, of Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the age of 92. Dorothy was born in Breese, IL on March 8, 1931, to August and Alice, nee Schlarmann, Huelsman. She married Earl Hasenstab, on November 24, 1949.

During her lifetime, Dorothy was a very active member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. She took pleasure in volunteer opportunities such as the weekly quilting group, the Meals on Wheels program, St. Luke's kitchen crew, and many other fundraising efforts.

Dorothy also enjoyed sewing, travelling, fishing, and playing cards, especially with her sisters. Her passion for life centered around her family and her tremendous group of friends. Her family was her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to see her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dorothy's thoughtfulness shined through her everyday actions with loved ones and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family takes great comfort in knowing she is with the Lord and all the family and friends who have gone before her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Michael; an infant daughter, Mary; a granddaughter, Stephanie; a brother, Hugo Huelsman; two sisters, Genny Endres and Edna Niebur; a sister-in-law, and six brothers-in-law.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Nick (Jean) Hasenstab, Dianne (Camilla McHugh) Hasenstab, Tim Hasenstab, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Hasenstab; other survivors include her six grandchildren, Brian, Bridget, Mike, Katie, Nathan, and Joe; six great-grandchildren, Harrison, Fiona, Emily, John, Luke, and Skyler; three loving sisters, Evelyn Pakosta, Pauline Billhartz, and Connie Street; and many other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Luke's Soup Kitchen, founded by her late husband, Earl, or to Heartland Hospice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
