March 14, 1935 - April 28, 2024
New Baden, Illinois - Eldon T. Ahner, 89, of New Baden, IL born March 14, 1935, in St. Louis, MO died Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his home.
Eldon retired as the fourth-generation owner of Ahner Florist in New Baden in 1999. He loved growing geraniums in clay pots. He enjoyed watching anything grow. He loved cutting grass and working in his stained glass studio in the greenhouse. He served for many years as a school bus driver for the Mascoutah School District, and was still serving as an aide at the time of this death. He volunteered his time at the Mascoutah Senior Center, serving two days a week. When asked, he would say that his favorite color was plaid.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore P. and Eleanor Z., nee Bopp, Ahner, a daughter, Joye Kansal and sister, Mildred Clark.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Elvira C. "Pinky" nee Rowold, Ahner; daughter, Stacia Ahner; son, Ted (Dawn) Ahner; son-in-law; Ajay Kansal; seven grandchildren, Asha (Alex) Mattan, Daniel Mileur, Abby (Brandon) Schack, Mollie Mileur, Jai Kansal, Grant Ahner, and Adam Ahner; great granddaughter, Ava Mattan; brother-in-law, Roy Klingelhoefer; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Henneman and Carolyn Rowold; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or First Responders of New Baden and received at the funeral. Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.
Visitaiton: From 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL and from 8 to 9 AM Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church.
Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 9 AM Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah with Pastor Kirk Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden, IL.
