Belleville, Illinois - Francis J. "Frank" Cange, 67, of Belleville, IL, born September 12, 1956, in Belleville, IL, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Frank received his master's degree in chemistry and physics at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He was an Advanced Placement reader in chemistry and physics. He was a teacher and taught Chemistry and Physics at the high school and junior college level for over 45 years. Frank was a member of the St. Louis Area Physics Teachers, The Illinois Section of American Association of Physics Teachers, and the Saint Louis Section of the American Chemical Society. He enjoyed taking his students to various academic contests. Frank was an avid sports fan and loved going to Cardinal baseball games, watching football and basketball, and enjoyed going to local high school sporting events. He also enjoyed refereeing and umpiring youth games. Frank especially loved barbeques, swimming, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Evelyn, nee Hobbs, Cange.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia, nee Gilmer, Cange; three children, Jennifer Cange (Brandon Riggles), Jacob Cange, and Emily Cange; a brother, Chuck (Lisa) Cange; a sister, Shirley Taylor; a stepbrother, Thomas Fusselman; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be held at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

So sorry for your family's loss. Mr. Cange was one of my favorite teachers at SWIC many years ago.
