Jane A. James (Gallagher) Jane James, age 85, of O'Fallon, IL, formerly of Belleville, IL born on November 3, 1933 in East St. Louis, IL died on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL. Mrs. James was a remedial reading teacher for East St. Louis Public School District #189 for 30 years. She was a past member and coach at St. Phillip's Catholic Church, East St. Louis, IL. She was a current member of the Thursday Literary Club, the St. Clair County Republican Women's Organization, and a St. Clair County Precinct Committeewoman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest W. James; her son, William "Bill" P. Bartsch; and her parents, James R. and Marcella, nee Anderson, Gallagher. Surviving are her two children, LuBeth (David) Bartsch Cutler of Belleville, IL and Susan (Kamran) Bartsch Emamjomeh of Ballwin, MO; her four step-children, Ernest "Ernie" (Chirylyn) James, Sean Patrick (Nancy) James, Patrick James, and Sharon James; her seven grandchildren, John W. (Nicole) Steen, Gregory J. (Megan) Steen, Elle Cutler, Derek Bartsch, Taylor Bartsch, Kamron Emamjomeh, and Carly Emamjomeh; many step-grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren, Cash and Mia Steen; her step-mother, Consuelo Gallagher of Webster Groves, MO; her brother, Donald J. (Phyllis) Gallagher of Breese, IL; her three nieces, Lisa M. Gallagher of Breese, IL, Gina M. Gallagher of Nashville, IL, and Lori A. (Paul) Meier of Trenton, IL; and her daughter-in-law, Debby Bartsch of Belleville. She was a beloved cousin and friend to many. Jane's family wishes to thank the Colonnade Senior Living Staff in O'Fallon, IL for their loving care in the last year and a half of their mom's life. Funeral: services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
