Lebanon, Illinois - John Leonard Goodman, 68, of Lebanon, IL, passed away on September 9, 2024 after battling cancer.
John was born on August 17, 1956 to Kenneth L. and Helene M. Goodman in East St. Louis.
John was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Helene Goodman, nee Peerman; siblings Mark Goodman and Genevieve Hommel; and dear friend Delbert Tucker.
He is survived by his wife, Melody Goodman, of 6 years; his children Charlotte Goodman, Nicholas (Jayma) Goodman and Ruth (Armando) Bartolo; step-children Franki Martin, Cody Martin, Sawyer (Delessa) Martin, Ezra Dotson, and Karsyn Bertelsman; his siblings Kenneth Goodman, James (Shirley) Goodman, William (Kathy) Goodman, Gerald (Susan Lukavsky) Goodman, (Sue Goodman), Mary (Allen) Friedman, Suzann (Terry) Mueller, and Jeffrey (Deborah) Goodman; grandchildren Zoë Bartolo, Dean Goodman, Paxton and Ender Martin; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held at O'Fallon Sportsmen's Club on Friday September 13th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a food pantry in his honor, a cause John dedicated many hours and felt strongly about.

To John's family: Our prayers and thoughts are with you in the loss of John. My husband and I were friends of John's as teenagers. We went on double dates together and had fun driving around Belleville just being teenagers. John was an usher at our wedding and although we lost touch after we left to live the military life, we will always remember John as one of our special friends of our youth.
