Joyce V. Mitchell, 79, of Freeburg, Ill., formerly of Dimmick Township, Peru, Ill., born Jan. 16, 1931, in LaSalle, Ill., passed away quietly on Feb. 19, 2010, at the Freeburg Care Center in the presence of her husband, Lloyd.
Mrs. Mitchell was a member of St. Paul 's United Church of Christ in Freeburg, Ill. She graduated from Hall High School, Spring Valley, Ill., and attended Illinois Wesleyan University on a music scholarship.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Rose, nee Bean, Rolando.
Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Mitchell of Freeburg, Ill., whom she married in 1950; three sons and two daughters, Trudy (Terrence) Mayfield of Trenton, Ill., Keith Mitchell of Freeburg, Ill., Becky (Bill) Mueller of Peru, Ill., Brian (Bonnie Morris) of New Orleans, La., and Bruce Mitchell of Ruskin, Fla.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Freeburg, Ill., Zion United Church of Christ in Peru, Ill., or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Visitation: Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, in Peru, Ill., with the Rev. Gary Stillwell officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley, Ill.
