Judith Wall Obituary
Judith Mary Wall, nee Schopp, 78, of Belleville, Ill., born Oct. 19, 1935, in Belleville, Ill., died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice House in Edwardsville, Ill.
Judith worked in underwriting for 29 years for W.A. Schickedanz Insurance Co. She was an avid sports fan and played multiple sports in her younger years, softball and volleyball being her favorites. Her passion then became watching and cheering on her grandchildren in their sporting activities and following professional tennis on television. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and compiled everything her children and grandchildren did in detail with scrapbooking. She was very involved with her children growing up, always lending a hand with a science fair project or creatively helping with a neighborhood play or game. She was a jack-of-all-trades, wielding a hammer or saw with ease. In the end, she loved going to the YMCA for her water aerobics where she made some wonderful friendships.
Judy was preceded in death by the father of her children, Jack Wall; her parents, Lawrence H. Schopp and Doris A., nee Bartel, Schopp Taphorn; and three step-brothers, Daniel, Duane and David Taphorn.
Surviving are two daughters, Stacy Mattern of Belleville, Ill., and Stephanie (Terry) Birch of Belleville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Zachary (Thera) Bond, Brett Birch, Mackenzie Mattern, and Michaela Mattern; a great-grandchild, Casey Bond; step-father, William Taphorn; a step-sister, Denise Howard; nieces, nephews, cousins, and several dear friends.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois Relais Bonne Eau Hospice House. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. Doug Hargrave officiating.

Stacy and Stephanie - So many great childhood memories of your mom...when I stop and think about all the times spent at your house in those days, I must have been a bit of a nuisance! I remember she made the best scrambled eggs (never to be duplicated, by me at least), the best hot chocolate, and I can still remember her fun giggling laugh and great smile that went all the way to her eyes. She was definitely part of the heart and soul of our neighborhood. I'm sorry to hear of her passing and hope your best memories of her shine a bright light in your heavy hearts. Barb(ie) Ingram Bray

Stacy and Stephanie, my condolences on the loss of your mom. She was one of the kindest, sincere and warm people that I have ever met. I enjoyed her company and sense of humor when we would get together as neighbors on 43rd St.
