Lois J. Medler

September 5, 1934 - October 14, 2025

O'Fallon, Illinois - Lois J. Medler, age 91, of O'Fallon, IL, formerly of Lebanon, IL., born on September 5, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in Fairview Heights, surrounded by her family.

Lois was a legal secretary for John Haley Law Firm, East St. Louis, IL and Stubbs & Abele Law Firm, Fairview Heights, IL. She was an honorary member of the Collinsville Rec Club and an auxiliary member of VFW Post #3880 in Lake Placid, FL. Lois built a beautiful life with Fred, the love of her life for 69 years. Her life was filled with love, laughter and many memories. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and light will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She cherished every moment with her family and leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and kindness that will continue through them all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred R. Medler; her granddaughter, Valarie Jean Konieczny; her great-granddaughter, Hayden A. Konieczny; her parents, Louis and Bessie, nee Lowrey Pruetzel; her siblings, Mildred Keller, Charles Pruetzel, Maudie Meier; her nieces, Janice Mahoney and Sharon Botzman.

Lois is survived by her children, Darryl F. Medler of Mound City, IL, Donna J. Greene of Rotonda West, FL, Kathleen M. (James) VanderPluym of Belleville, IL, and Brian C. (Mary) Medler of Belleville, IL; her grandchildren, Ronald P. Konieczny (Bethany Williams), Russell A. (Sara) Konieczny, Collin C. (Hannah) Greene, and Elliot R.J. (Brittany) Greene; her great-grandchildren, Valarie Marie Konieczny (Zach Rhein) Wade R. Konieczny, Parker J. Konieczny, Kylie J. Richter, Charley R. Richter, Emerson N. Konieczny, Tinley J. Greene, Owen S. Greene, Everly R. Greene, Reagan M. Greene, and Vivian J. Greene; her very special niece, Carol Ann Weidner and her great nephew, Craig (Darla) Weidner. The family would like to express thankfulness to Carol Ann, Craig, and Darla for all of their love and support in Lois's final days . Lois is also survived by her niece, Pat Ruhrman; and her nephew, Donnie (Susie) Rafalowski.

Lois's family wishes to thank Heather Tiley, R.N. with Hospice of Southern Illinois for her loving and professional care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to Collinsville Rec Club.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will also be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary Ltd., with Rev. Tommy Medler officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
