Smithton, Illinois - Maryann Elaine Schmidt, nee Baum,78, of Smithton, IL, born September 28, 1945, in Belleville, IL, died Thursday, August 29, 2024, at her residence.

Mrs. Schmidt was the owner of Dave Schmidt Truck Service, Inc. She was a member of the St. Louis Drag Boat Association and the Kentucky Drag Boat Association. Maryann was everyone's "Momma Schmidt", and she was so proud to be grandma and great-grandma to her precious babies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Schmidt, whom she married on August 30, 1963, and who died June 28, 2022, her parents, Herbert and Muriel, nee Drovetta, Baum; and her siblings, Arthur Baum, Sharon Abbott, and Janet Baum.

She is survived by her children, David (Nancy) Schmidt of Smithton, IL, and Cheryl (Jason) Becherer of Smithton, IL; five grandchildren, Trevor (Brooke) Becherer, Mackenzie (James) Hildreth, Justin (Brenda Whitworth) Schmidt, Jeremy Schmidt, and Jenna (Cole Schopp) Schmidt all of Smithton IL; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Emerson, Austin, Gabriella, and Brianna, all of Smithton, IL; her grandpup, Stanley; three sisters-in-law, Ruth (Frank) Sullivan, Susan Leavell, and Mary Lee Baum; three nieces, Catherine Abbott, Sarah (Brian) Snow, and Susan (Dewey) Barsalox; and countless friends that she considered family.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Dave and Maryann's Barn.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Dave and Maryann's Barn with Rev. Vince Ottway officiating. A luncheon and celebration of life will follow the memorial service. Casual attire welcome.
