Gardner, Kansas - Raymond John (Jack) Spengel 67, of Gardener, KS died Monday, November 23, 2020 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. Jack was born at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, Illinois on October 16th, 1953, the son of R. James (Jim) and Mary L. (Bebe) Spengel (nee Lampen). Grandparents were Raymond J. (Ray) and Alice Spengel of Highland, Illinois, and John B. (Ben) and Lenore (nee Fisher) Lampen of Carlyle, Ill.
Jack attended St. Paul Elementary through 7th grade and then Highland Junior High and Highland High School. Jack graduated from Highland High School 1971. Jack attended Southern Ill. Univ. Edwardsville where he was a charter member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon chapter there. His business career was primarily in retail. Jack retired in 2003. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and watching sports. Jack was a St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs and K-State Wildcats fan.
Jack is survived by son, Jason Mathew Spengel, sister Mary Susan (Sue) Tinnen and husband Steve, niece Elizabeth A. (Liz) Keltner and nephew James W. Tinnen and cousins.
Private graveside services were held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Highland, Illinois on Monday, January 4th, 2021.

Jack was a fun classmate, he pushed the boundaries whenever possible, and loved every minute of the attention. Thanks to him I got to meet Mabel in Cot Neatherly’s 8th grade history class, 1966.
