Belleville, Illinois - Robert L. Gellner, 95, of Belleville, IL, born December 3, 1927, in Belleville, IL, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at The Villas of Holly Brook, Belleville, IL.
Robert was a World War II United States Navy veteran. He worked as a senior product engineer for the White-Rogers Division at Emerson Electric. Robert was a member of the Swansea Moose Lodge 1221, where he obtained the highest degree in the Moose, the Pilgram Degree. He was also a member of the Belleville VFW Post 1739.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Emmelene A. Gellner, nee Toensing, whom he married on July 2, 1949, in St. Louis MO, and who died on July 17, 2015; a granddaughter, Christa Meyer; his parents, Jacob and Mildred, nee Mueller, Gellner-Ostendorf; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Wallin.
Surviving are his four daughters, Connie Wallin of Ocala, FL, Sandra (Jeffery) Meyer of Marquez, TX, April (Morton) Friedman of Belleville, IL, and Jacqueline (Steven) Lemmon of Millstadt, IL; six grandchildren, Stacey (Ronald) Kays of Collinsville, IL, Kara (Justin) Zorn of Pflugerville, TX, Heather (Jerad) Busch of Cape Girardeau, MO, Shari (Seth) Brock of Hendersonville, TN, Drew (Ashleigh) Friedman of Belleville, IL, and Brett (Jenna) Friedman of Belleville, IL; eleven great-grandchildren, Ashlyn (Patrick) Yoakum, Abbie (Tyler) Gilliland, Leyla Scannell, Ariana and Olivia Friedman, Drake and Izek Busch, Knox and Stella Brock, and Emmelene and Juliette Zorn; three great-great-grandchildren, Collin, Camden, and Cooper Yoakum; a sister-in-law, Jeanetta Jarrett; and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Mooseheart Child City and School Inc. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Funeral: Private family visitation and services will be held.
Entombment will be at Valhalla Mausoleum, Belleville, IL.
