Robert Kadavi Obituary

Robert Joseph Kadavi, known to most as "Bob" was born April 8, 1944, and entered eternal life on July 13, 2016.

Bob served his country in Vietnam in the United States Air Force for two tours. He retired as a switchman from the Terminal Railroad in Madison, Ill. He was a devoted father and beloved grandpa and his grandchildren brought him immense joy. He was an avid traveler that drove across the United States several times with his favorite spots being in Ria Dosa, New Mexico and several locations in Wyoming. He had a new appreciation for life after suffering three strokes at the age of 59 and although the rehabilitation process was grueling he persevered. He appreciated the simple things in life like, camping in the motor home, duct tape, a good meal with family and friends, hugs from his family, candy/ice cream, cologne, and sunglasses. Bob never met a stranger without finding out where they were from and what their story was. He would always compliment a pretty women and advised to always forgive quickly and appreciate God's glory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosemary Kadavi.

Beloved father of Angel and Thomas Odom, Candy and Joshua Heyen, Misty and Jason Taylor, Joseph and Katie Kadavi, and Bobbie Jo Kadavi. Dear grandfather of Grace, Faith, and William Odom, Nathaniel, Addison, and Evelyn Heyen, Matthew, Wyatt, and Gatlin Taylor, Nikolas Davis, Lukas Kadavi, Kadin and Kylie Brown, Jersey Kadavi, and Makaila Kadavi. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Sharon Kadavi; nephews, Chad (wife Beth) and Nicholas Kadavi; as well as infinite friends that he met along the way.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you pay forward an act of kindness. Bob, "Over and out".

Very sorry about your loss. No amount of planning or knowing prepares you for the loss of a parent. My Dad's been gone for over 10 years and there's not a day goes by I don't think about him. I met your Father about 10 years ago at a funeral and he was such a joy to talk to. The world needs more people like your Father in it.

I'm having trouble putting words together, because I haven't had any real contact with my cousin Bob since I was about 12 (I'm 56 now). But, I have a memory that he answered his country's call and did his duty with honor, during a time when this nation was in great turmoil. I know through his daughter Misty's Facebook postings that he was a man who loved his children, his grandchildren, and was an all around GREAT guy. He will be missed by his friends and the people who loved him. R.I.P. Bob!!
