Robert Parsons Obituary
Robert W. Parsons, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Thursday Nov. 21, 2013. He was a longtime resident of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Lebanon, Ill.
Robert was born in East Chicago, Ind., Sept. 12, 1935. He was a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Robert enlisted in the Air Force at 17, and retired as a Master Sgt. in 1972. He moved his family to Poplar Bluff, Mo. He graduated from Three Rivers Community College with an associates degree in business mid management. He was a Snap-On Tool salesman for six years, and a salesman for Orgill Brothers Hardware & Supply for 20 years. He retired in 2000. He was a handyman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling.
He loved classical music and history. He was a life member and past commander of Frances Boyer Amvets Post 29 and a member and past trustee of the Eagles Lodge No. 3730.
Surviving Robert are his wife, Jean Lourene, nee Stickel, Parsons, whom he married on May 22, 1954, in Hammond, Ind.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Parsons and Kathryn of Belleville, Ill., William Parsons and Tracy of Rolla, Mo.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn Skippers and Marc of Michigan, Barbara Robinson and Michael of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Helen Buller and Levon of Virginia, Connie Roberson and Kevin of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Constance Champion and Craig of Iowa City, Iowa and Barbara Hussussian and Jacques of Milwaukee, Wis.; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William Samuel Parsons and Helen Grabowski Parsons; and one daughter, Alice Kay East.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 420 N. Main St., Poplar Bluff, Mo. 63901. Condolences may be made at www.fitchhillisfh.com.
Funeral: Memorial service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, Holy Cross Episcopal Church with the Rev. Annette Joseph officiating. Burial and military honors were held at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo.
