Robert Duane "Bob" Wheeler, 68, of Troy, IL, born on November 21, 1949, in Elmira, NY, passed away at Christian Northeast Hospital on Sunday, March 4, 2018, with loved ones by his side.

Bob resided in the home of his best friend, Rebecca VanScoyk, whom he loved dearly, along with her sons, Richard and Evan VanScoyk, who he treasured and considered his own. Before retiring, Bob was a professional bowler and self-employed truck driver traveling the country. In addition to bowling, Bob enjoyed fishing, chess, poker, puzzles, Suduko, basketball and NASCAR racing.

He was preceded by his parents, Robert William Wheeler and Evelyn (Larabee) Rupp; two brothers, Randy Wheeler and Kevin Bush. He was a father, stepfather, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, and a friend to many.

Surviving are his wonderful sisters, Diana (Wheeler) Reynolds of Montour Falls, NY, Debbie (Wheeler) Watkins of Concord, NC, and Roberta (Bush) Button of Stanfield, NC; one comical, loving brother, Richie Wheeler of Winston-Salem, NC; along with one daughter and two sons from previous marriages, Sheila, Craig and Alexander; as well as several loving nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Any memorials sent to family will be put towards the Tri-Township Park District donation.

Services: a Celebration of Life Ceremony for family and friends will be held at Tri-Township Park, Troy, IL, on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. along with a dedication of park memorial benches in honor of Bob.

A private funeral service for family is anticipated.
