Sharon Kaemmerer Obituary

Sharon Kaemmerer
Sharon Ruth Kaemmerer, nee Funk, 72, of Belleville, Ill., born Dec. 10, 1934, in Belleville, Ill., died Friday, March 16, 2007, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Sharon worked at International Shoe Company, both in Belleville and in St. Louis, during her early years. She met her husband George there and they were married June 19, 1954. Mrs. Kaemmerer served as an election judge in St. Clair County and was a member of VFW Belleville Post 1739 Auxiliary.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Sr. and Ruth, nee Curry, Funk; a granddaughter, Paige Kaemmerer; a sister, Sandra Peterson; and a brother, Dean Funk.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, George Kaemmerer Jr.; a son, Devin Sr. (Hope) Kaemmerer of Lenzburg, Ill.; a daughter, Donna (Robert) Schaefer of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Bryce (fiancee, Christina Wagner) Kaemmerer, Devin Jr., Katherine, Cole, and Heidi Kaemmerer, and Amy, Brian, and Kelli Schaefer; five sisters and two brothers, Nelda (Norman) Koch of New Athens, Ill., Bonnie (Charles) Nesbit and Jewel Baker, both of Belleville, Ill., Arnold (Inez) Funk of New Braunfels, Texas, Mary (Donald) Finney of Burlinton, Mass., Peggy Whitlaw of Lebanon, Ill., and Daryl (Joan) Funk of Mascoutah, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
Mom was a wonderful and loving person. She enjoyed taking rides in the country and looking for wildlife, especially deer and rabbits. She always looked forward to spring because she enjoyed mushroom hunting. In her younger years, she enjoyed family vacations, fishing, and traveling to Nova Scotia and Iceland. Mom loved making cookies and spending time with her family. She was extremely proud of all her grandchildren. We love her and she will be sorely missed.
