Powhatan, Virginia - Susan Marie Willoughby, nee Siegel, of Powhatan, Virginia passed away on May 21, 2021. Susan was born February 29, 1952, a leap year baby, in Highland, Illinois. Sue, as she was known to those close to her, was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Siegel, her mother-in-law Elizabeth Willoughby and father-in-law Michael Willoughby, and a sister Mary Siegel.
Survived by her husband, Michael, whom she married on May 26, 1972 in Mascoutah, IL; children Jennifer (Ken) Satterwhite & Charles Willoughby; her mother, Theresa, nee Hoffmann, Siegel (Mascoutah, IL); grandchildren Ryan and Jackson Satterwhite, siblings: Eugene (Jeanie) Siegel (Addieville, IL),Thomas (JoAnn) Siegel (Le Claire, IA), Kathie (Bruce) Burkhardt (Manchester, MO), Ronald Siegel (Mascoutah, IL) and Kristie (Tim) Siegel-Gonzalez (Caseyville, IL).
Sue was a registered nurse with St. Thomas Medical in Nashville, Tennessee until retiring in 2019. She loved gardening and became certified as a master gardener in Tennessee. Sue was a kind and generous soul, loved spending time with her family, and especially loved being a grandmother.
Celebration of life will be held August 8, 2021 with a mass at 11:00 am at Holy Childhood Church in Mascoutah, IL. Followed by a luncheon at adjoining Parish Center.

I will always remember Sue's laugh and how she felt so comfortable to be with right from the first time we met. I will miss her.
