Velma Spivey

Velma Faye Spivey, 83, of Madison, Ill., born Oct. 26, 1928, in Bunker, Mo., passed away at 2:34 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Gateway Regional Medical Center, Granite City, Ill.

Mrs. Spivey had worked as a home healthcare giver with Community Care Center in Alton. She enjoyed her days of crocheting, crafts and always caring for others. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Spivey whom she married in 1962 in Granite City, Ill., and who died March 2, 1992; her parents, Guy and Sylvia Jewell, nee Swigert, Burns; and a brother, Neal Burns.

Surviving are her four children and their spouses, Larry and Deborah Wilkiewicz of Granite City, Richard and Merida Wilkiewicz of Fort Hood, Texas, Mary and David Carroll of Sorento and Terry Spivey of Madison; three grandchildren, Jennifer Wilkiewicz of East Alton, Janel Wilkiewicz of Fort Hood, Texas and Reuben Vasquez of Troy; six great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
