Viola J. Korte, nee Albers, 87, of Germantown, Ill., born Aug. 17, 1922, in Germantown, Ill., died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Carlyle Health Care Center in Carlyle, Ill.
Mrs. Korte was a homemaker and member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Germantown, Ill., and Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso, Ill. She enjoyed quilting, dancing, bingo, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Korte, whom she married on April 19, 1944, at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso, Ill., and who died on March 29, 1985; parents, Henry and Cecilia, nee Usselmann, Albers; brothers, Norbert Albers and Eugene Albers; a sister, Leona Voss; brother-in-law, Al Voss; sisters-in-law, Lucille Albers and Margie Albers; and sons-in-law, Carl Maue and John Stockwell.
Surviving are her children Fran (Bob) Wellinghoff of Carlyle, Carol Stockwell of Ellcott City, Md., Ron (financee, Linda Schaaf) Korte of East Dundee, Ill., Arlene (Phil) Devlin of Long Beach, Calif., Jerry (Lana) Korte of Smithton, Ill., and Phil Korte of Grover Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Christine (Doug) Huegen, Craig (Sue) Maue, Clint (Lea) Maue, Jennifer (Mike) Doucleff, Michelle (Jacque) Laccia, William Korte, Jason Korte, and Jonathon Korte; and eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry "Jitter" (Mary) Albers of Damiansville, Ill., and Richard Albers of Bartelso, Ill.; sister, Dolores (Bob) Von Bokel of Aviston, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Marie Albers of Breese, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, and from 8 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown, Ill.

Funeral: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday Nov. 17, 2009, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Father James Buerster and Father Henry Fischer officiating. Interment in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown, Ill.
