Willard Golden Obituary

Willard Golden
Willard C. Golden, 90, of Kimberling City, Mo., and formerly of Granite City, Ill., born June 4, 1917, in Brownsville, Tenn., died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, in Granite City, Ill.
Mr. Golden spent his early years as a dairy farmer in Dexter, Mo., and later retired in 1979, from Dave Croft in Collinsville after 22 years of dedicated service as a Chrysler automotive mechanic. He enjoyed his days of hunting and fishing and was a member of the Granite City Moose Lodge 272, Kimberling City Eagles Aerie 2505 and the United Methodist Church in Kimberling City. He had a special love of woodworking, tending to his yard and gardening and will be remembered for the love of his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vanny and Vannie, nee Belch, Golden; his stepfather, Brown Pardon; a grandson, Robbie; a son-in-law, David Whitsell; three brothers, Irvin, Carl and Joe; and three sisters, Cheryl, Ruby and Flossie.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years, Janette, nee Fields, Golden whom he married on Feb. 8, 1939, in Portageville, Mo.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Whitsell of Granite City, Ill., and Pat and Bob Grunden of Dillsburg, Penn.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Bonnie Golden of Kimberling City, Mo., and Steve and Bev Golden of Granite City, Ill.; seven grandsons, Dwight, Clifton, Stacy, Gary, Chris, Mike and Brent; three granddaughters, Terri, Sandy and Kim; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Kate Gunn of Hayti, Mo., Maxine Harris of Sikeston and Peggy Pardon of Sikeston; and other extended family and many dear friends.
Memorials may be made to Gateway Hospice or to Stone County Council on Aging and may be accepted at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, Ill.

Visitation: In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: Memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, Ill.

My deepest sympathy to you all. I will miss Uncle Bill so very much, I remember when he came to visit us in Seattle and all the fun we had and all the times our familys got together. He was a very special man and a great Uncle and will be missed so much. Love to you all and may God Bless you.
