Bellingham, Washington - Alfred "Big Al" Reid died at age 72 on January 8, 2024. Big Al was a scientist of nature and humans, he was a professional archaeologist, a part-time college teacher, a small business owner, a son, a brother, an uncle and a great-uncle. Born on December 3, 1951 to Alfred R. Reid and Wilhelmina M. (Henderson) Reid at Fort Belvoir, VA. As a child, born into a military family, Al lived as far as Okinawa and grew up mostly in New Mexico, Massachusetts and Washington State. He is survived by Earl Reid (Wanda); Mari Pulvermacher (Ed); Kari Reid (Cary); Maggie Reid; Toree Reid; Deborah Kratzer-Reid and 17 nieces and nephews and 29 great nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ron (Thomasine); Rick; Robin; Terry and Monty.

Al was my Archeology and Geology teacher at WCC. Loved being in his class. Al was a great teacher and an awesome friend. Often times we would meet up at The Cabin Tavern for a few beers and talk more about subjects in class and everything else in life. Al was a deeply interesting and good man. I'm going to miss him.

I worked with Al up at WWU taking statistics at men's and women's basketball games for a few times. He had a great sense of humor and was a very hard worker.
