Bruce Swanson Obituary
March 13, 1934 - March 16, 2022
Bellingham , Washington - Bruce A. Swanson passed away peacefully on March 16, 2022, at his home in Bellingham surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer. Bruce was born March 13, 1934, to Alvin Swanson and Ethel Morningstar. He earned a degree in chemistry from Western Washington University. He served in the Army early on and then went on to work for Georgia Pacific as a Chemist for more than 30 years. Bruce enjoyed ice skating, fishing, and hiking. He was preceded in death by his first wife Joan Swanson (Warner), his second wife Nancy Swanson (Macdonald) and his brother David Swanson. He is survived by his brother Michael Swanson, sisters Margaret and Diane, 3 daughters and 1 son, 3 Stepsons and 1 stepdaughter, Sandra Swanson, Tonya Swanson, Karen Todhunter, Tim Swanson, Craig Macdonald, Scott Macdonald, Kent Macdonald, Amy Macdonald and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor. He will be greatly missed. We would like to thank the incredibly special people at hospice for their assistance. You made a difficult situation bearable, and we are so thankful! A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, at 1:00 PM at The Squalicum Boathouse in Zuanich Park at 2600 Habor Loop, Bellingham, WA. 98225. Mr. Swanson was one of my favorite parents growing up, He was patient and supportive, Didn't
complain much when we were out front burning our tires, drinking beer & raising hell..I think he enjoyed every bit of it,
One of my favorite times was when he took me and Tim fishing with a few six packs, I don't think he really expected us to catch anything but a Good Buzz, Which he patiently waited for, Then he let that old boat fly, Me and Tim were pretty well seasoned by then.. so we thought,
After nearly 35 years I got to see him one more time shake his hand and call him BRUCE.
He was a great dad to his family,
And a favorite memory.
