Frank Inslee Obituary

Frank Evan Inslee

November 7, 1952 - January 24, 2024

Mount Vernon, Washington - Remembered for his infectious smile and giving heart, Frank Evan Inslee passed away at his home on January 24, 2024. As you read this take a moment to recall a time that "Frankie" made you smile, laugh, or roll your eyes. With these memories, Frank will always be with us.

Born on November 7 in 1952, Frank leaves behind his loving wife Carla, daughter Jaime Richardson (Alan), son Chandler Inslee (Lyndsey), son Joshua McClelland, daughter Lexi Dugan (Joel), son Caleb McClelland (Olivia), and son Jeff McClelland (Rocio). To his seven grandchildren, Frank was lovingly known as "Fufu". Frank also had a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Adele Inslee, Frank is survived by his brothers Jay Inslee (Trudie) and Todd Inslee (Davina).

As an art teacher at BHS and SqHS, Frank supported and encouraged his many students to express themselves. He was the head coach or assistant coach in a variety of sports. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, and golfing. He played a mean game of cribbage and loved camping and traveling with Carla. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hillcrest Park Lodge on August 4 at 2:00 pm. His presence will be missed by so many.

Frank Evan Inslee was my best friend. We met at Western Washington University in 1972 and were In and all male dorm. He lived on the sixth floor of Nash Hall and I lived on the third floor. He was recognizable by his Ingram football jacket. I guess we got to be friends because Bremerton and Ingram were playing in the semi finals for State football championship. Bremerton lost three nothing, and I never heard the end of it. The star running back for Bremerton was out. His name was Tony Bodie, who was a good friend of mine. The irony is, I won Super Bowl tickets to watch John Elway and the Denver Broncos versus Doug Williams and the Washington Redskins. One of the running backs on the Denver Broncos was Tony Bodie. I was actually close enough to yell his name during warmups and responded with the wave. Frank thought that was so cool. We have been on many trips together Hawaii, Mexico, San Diego, Las Vegas, etc. and we have always had A great time.
When he Started a women´s softball team he asked me to help him coach. I did and we had so much fun. He said why don´t we start a men´s team and we did. One of our highlights was our women´s team winning the top division in Women´s softball and the man doing likewise. We have a lot of fun as Venus Pizza! It´s hard to know what to say cause I miss Frank immensely. I was said If I were in a bunker somewhere for my life, I would want no other person that Frank Inslee by my side. I found a poem That expresses my Expresses my friendship for Frank. I won´t express the whole poem But the part that is most important to me." A friend is a person with whom I may be sincere. Before him, I may think out aloud. I am arrived at last in the presence of a man so real, and equal that I may drop even those under most garments of dissimulation!" I could share anything with Frank and he with me. I feel like the tin man in the Wizard of Oz, who knew he had a heart because it was breaking. That´s the way I feel about Frank Inslee!

Mr Inslee was really good to me when I was a freshman at BHS in his art class in 1980. I remember he would bring a three-legged goat to class named "Tripod." He was a good man and I´m sure he´s happily painting in heaven´s unearthly estate.

Frank was not only one of my favorite teachers in high school, but he was THE favorite teacher. I had him for several ceramics classes and he encouraged us to think "outside the box" and had a number of creative ideas that he brought to the class as well. It was obvious that he loved art and he loved his students as well. I am grateful to have had Frank in my life as a teacher and mentor.

Frank was my ceramics teacher and softball coach, while so many fond memories I have to say my favorite was a team building trip we took to Fort Worden, it was a fun/productive weekend and I will always cherish my memories with my team and Frank. RIP

Frank was a tough defensive end on one of the last great Ingraham High football teams - Metro League Champs and Turkey Day Champs in Memorial Stadium in 1970. Great guy, great teammate - we've lost a few this year from that team...Gary Larsen, Ric Henning and now Frank. Had a chance to see Frank at our 50th reunion and at one of my band gigs at the Conway Muse this last year. Rest in peace my friend...

Frank Inslee was my softball coach, the first year softball was established at BHS. He was a very good coach, an excellent combination of serious and allowing young female athletes to enjoy the sport together as (sometimes silly) teammates. Thanks, Coach.

I had the honor of teaching across the hall from Frank at SQHS. Being the newby in Mt. House, Frank was always available to help me navigate the system. Through laughs & wisdom, he made me feel comfortable & welcomed. Smiles continue to come with every memory. Thanks friend.
