Hilary Whaley Obituary

Hilary Clark Whaley "Wally" passed peacefully on June 9, 2018 at 9:45 pm in Bellingham, Washington surrounded by his family and the Lord listening to one of his favorite songs "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban. He was a great man - an artist. He enjoyed his career as a master barber because it gave him the opportunity to meet and love so many great people. He and his wife own and operate Wally's Barber Shop in Bellingham. He enjoyed singing, writing poems, fishing, hunting, gold panning, winning the big money in Vegas...what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his beautiful wife Renate Whaley and his children Sandy and Michael Alexander, Barbara Jackson, Cheryl and Robert Chili Hicks, Deanna Whaley and Ron, and his sisters Cheryl Kennard (twin), Mary Lou Connolly and Donna Dee Schweitzer. His son Jason Whaley and brother Clinton Whaley predeceased him. He loved and cherished his 11 grandchildren Katrina Glaspie, Jennifer Blevins, Michael Alexander Jr, Corey Jackson, Emily Jackson, Lindsay Wright, Courtney Niebruegge, Abigail Hicks, Timothy Whaley, Destiny Davis, Nevaeh Whaley and 8 great grandchildren Trinity Brockman, Mathias Bales, Carter, Connor, and Colton Blevins, Sage Jackson, Reagan Wright and very soon to be baby Niebs. Born and raised in Whatcom County there are countless family members and friends who touched his life and he loved and cherished them all. Thank you for making his life great! The family is hosting a celebration of life potluck on Sunday, June 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fairhaven Park Picnic Shelter, 107 Chuckanut Drive North, Bellingham, Washington 98226. Everyone is invited.

He was my grandpa but not only that he was my best friend I remember we would sing our favorite songs in his bedroom all night I miss him but he's in a better place now he passed away when I was 7 and I wish he could see how much I've grown in the past 3-4 years.

To the whole Whaley family.I am so sorry for your loss. You don't know me, but Hilary was a foster boy at Mother B's. (Bengen) I really don't remember much as I was pretty young when he and Clinton were at Grandma's. One of the requirements for her boys, was that they attend church or Sunday School. I can't remember which. That was Immanual Lutheran in Lawrence. I hope that was one of the good influences in his life. I always have wondered what happened to all of Grandma's boys. Thank you for sharing and may God give you His richest blessings. Joan Bengen Moline
