Mae Ellen Duff, age 83, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011. She was born on August 8th, 1927 to James Hobbs and Nola (Wilson) Hobbs in Dixon, Missouri. She is remembered by her daughter Jayma and son-in-law Robert Nichol; granddaughter Shannon Nichol-Godbout and husband Travis Godbout; and grandson Kenneth Nichol and wife Jessica Nichol. Mae Ellen was a farmer's daughter and a self-taught homesteader, craftsman, seamstress, canner, fisherwoman, cheesemaker, bread-baker, gardener, clam digger, and frog gigger. She dealt with life with great resourcefulness and practical curiosity. Her love of the outdoors and nature has graced and inspired her children and grandchildren. In her retirement years, Mae Ellen lived and gardened on Stickney Island Road near Everson. In recent years, she resided at St. Francis Extended Care Facility in Bellingham. At Mae Ellen's request, no services will be held.
